Historic Preservation

Historic Preservation is one of our most satisfying ares of expertise. We have completed several projects that date back to the late 1700's. Our current project is the complete renovation of  the " Pace- King" mansion built in Shockoe Bottom, 1860. We are experts at adaptive reuse projects as well and are familiar with the Historic Tax Credit program.

This project is known as " Columns on Grove ". One of the Corinthian
capitals was replaced to match the original historic column. On this project we invited the neighborhood day care to come over and see the construction equipment.

One of the columns on the front of the building needed to be replaced. We matched the column along with the Corinthian capital and you can't tell the difference. Here is the Corinthian capital replacement getting ready to be installed on top of the column.

Extensive restoration to the Pace - King mansion in Shockoe Bottom. This home was built in 1860 and features ornate iron work and limestone steps as well as floor to ceiling windows. The servants quarters and fountain in the back courtyard are also being restored. On the second floor, the windows open so high that they serve as doors to the porch.

Original plaster matched in historical project. Notice the beautiful trim around the doors.
